Michael Crummey

Michael Crummey SweetlandMichael Crummey (NL, Canada) is a poet and author of short stories and novels. Born in Buchans, Newfoundland, Crummey graduated from Memorial university of Newfoundland with a BA in English, and from Queen’s University, where he earned an MA. Crummey travelled and worked in a number of countries, including China and Guatemala, before moving back to Newfoundland. The author has won many accolades for his work, and has been short-listed for the Governor General’s Literary Award for fiction. Crummey has served as a writer-in-residence and taught creative writing at many institutions across Canada. At Wordfest, he presents Sweetland, a novel about a man’s struggle against nature and preserving memory.
