A House In the Sky Book Jacket

Amanda Lindhout returns to Wordfest after a year since the release of her internationally acclaimed memoir, A House In the Sky, which recounts her extraordinary experience of being held hostage for 460 days by militants in Somalia. In conversation with host Jocelyn Laidlaw, Lindhout reflects on the popular and critical reception of A House in the Sky over the past year.

Lindhout’s memoir is a searingly intimate account of an intrepid young woman and her search for compassion in the face of unimaginable adversity. A House In the Sky has found an almost-permanent home on bestseller lists, and her harrowing story has been optioned as a major motion picture, with Oscar® nominated actress Rooney Mara set to produce and star in the film.

Amanda Lindhout is the founder of the Global Enrichment Foundation, a non-profit organization that supports development, aid and education initiatives in Somalia and Kenya.

Lindhout joins Jian Ghomeshi (Wordfest 2012) at the desk in Studio Q to talk about A House in the Sky.
