Dennis Lee

Dennis Lee (ON, Canada) is Toronto’s First Poet Laureate and editor of works for adults. His timeless children’s collections, which are read around the world, include Garbage Delight, Jelly Belly, Bubblegum Delicious and The Ice Cream Store. Deemed “Canada’s Father Goose”, Lee has been awarded many honours, including being a recipient of the Order of Canada and the Vicky Metcalf Award for his body of work. At Wordfest, he presents the special 40th anniversary edition of Alligator Pie. In this edition, Lee’s classic poem has been paired with striking artwork by Sandy Nichols, recent winner of the nationwide competition to find the perfect illustrator for Lee’s iconic words.
