In partnership with Ryeberg.com, Wordfest presents a “video show-and-tell” curated by a selection of Festival artists who each present an original essay inspired by online videos.
Writers from this “all-Montreal” lineup are sure to draw inspiration from a city nicknamed either “The City of Saints” or “Sin City,” depending on what you see or whom you ask.
Founder and host Erik Rutherford refers to his literary contributors as “curators” because they deal with video clips in much the same way a gallery curator deals with works of art. Ryeberg curators select from the vast, disordered warehouses of video-sharing sites, then interpret and present their videos in a way that best serves their purposes.
A “Ryeberg” is neither wholly video nor wholly text. It’s the most modern essay. In a sense, it’s a genre unto itself, defined by its two indivisible, organic parts: video & text. Presented in partnership with Ryeberg.com.
