Gabrielle Grimard has been drawing since she was a very young child. Born in Montreal, she studied Fine Arts at Concordia University. She began her career as a muralist, painting numerous walls in commercial buildings in the Montreal area. Between 1998 and 2001, Gabrielle had many solo shows in the Plateau Mont Royal area of Montreal. In 2001, after giving birth to her first child, Gabrielle began her career as an illustrator. She has illustrated numerous pictures books in the US and Canada.
Lila and the Crow is the story of a little girl excited to make new friends in her new town, only to be bullied for her appearance and differences. After a little boy teases her for having hair as black as a crow, Lila encounters a strange crow, but ignores it. But when her loneliness and despair is it’s worst, an encounter with this crow teaches her to see things differently.
