Congratulations to Karyn L. Freedman

The Festival congratulates Karyn L. Freedman who recently won the National Award for Canadian Non-Fiction for her memoir One Hour in Paris: A True Story of Rape and Recovery.

The jury called Freedman’s book “powerful” with the “potential to catalyze the kind of dialogue that can lead to social change.” — Calgary Herald

One Hour in ParisWordfest had the honour of hosting Karyn Freedman at the 19th annual Festival where she appeared alongside Edmund Metatawabin, Iman Verjee and Sheri-D Wilson to explore themes of trauma and recovery that underpinned each of their books.

Wordfest was the only, major Canadian literature Festival in 2014 to feature Freedman's new book.
