Welcome to the Auburn resurrected, but for just one week in Motel on the mezzanine level of Arts Commons. The year-round home of Downstage Theatre, this space is transformed every January during the High Performance Rodeo into the Laycraft Lounge. In honour of our 20th anniversary, Calgary’s artiest pop-up bar will open its doors again from Tuesday to Saturday, providing the right ambiance for gathering before and after the festival events talking place all week on the Wordfest and Fluid Festival line-ups. But what’s a lounge without entertainment? That’s why we created the OctoberFEST LAB (for Literary Arts Bonanza), where we’ll be presenting live pop-up performances by fearless local artists from a multitude of genres.
