Please join the CDWP, Wordfest and the Calgary Public Library for the Yiddish Policemen’s Secret Ball, a Michael Chabon pre-talk event at Memorial Park Library in advance of his public appearance at the University of Calgary on Thursday, February 16. The evening features special guests including writer Richard Kelly Kemick, historian Harry Sanders and film scholar Charles Tepperman, among others. Michael Chabon will not be in attendance at the pre-talk. Official bookseller is Shelf Life Books.

Chabon’s novel, The Amazing Adventures of Kavalier & Clay won the Pulitzer Prize for Fiction in 2001. His novel, Wonder Boys was adapted for the screen and became a critically acclaimed film. The Yiddish Policemen’s Union was a New York Times bestseller and was nominated for an Edgar Award; it also won the Nebula Award and the Hugo Award for Best Novel in 2008. In addition to his many literary works, Chabon has found critical success in a number of genres including graphic novels, YA fiction, and a picture book. His most recent novel is Moonglow (HarperCollins, November 2016).

Chabon has lectured internationally on topics that include the art and craft of writing, the tradition of Jewish fiction, and Vladimir Nabokov, to name but a very few.
