Featuring Giuseppe Catozzella, Michel Chikwanine, Peter Midgley & Tracey Lindberg
Giuseppe Catozzella writes a true story in the form of a novel, about a young Somali Olympian on her journey through danger, civil war, prohibition and frustration to her life as an athlete. Michel Chikwanine’s childhood was ravaged by the Great War of Africa, which claimed his father’s life, and forced him to be a child soldier. Tracey Lindberg’s Birdie is a darkly comic and moving novel about a Cree woman recovering from tragedy. In Counting Teeth: A Namibian story, Peter Midgley travels the byways of Namibia, along with his teenaged daughter, Sinead, weaving history, politics and a stunning landscape together with a storyteller’s flare.
