Héctor Tobar
Héctor Tobar (USA) is a weekly columnist for the Los Angeles Times, a novelist and a Pulitzer Prize-winning journalist. Tobar received his MFA in creative writing at the prestigious fiction writing program at UC Irvine. For a decade, he was a national and foreign correspondent for the Los Angeles Times, for which he traveled to Brazil, Peru, Chile, Mexico and Argentina to cover assignments. At Wordfest, he presents Tattooed Soldier and Deep Down Dark: The Untold Stories of 33 Men Buried in a Chilean Mine, and the Miracle That Set Them Free. The son of Guatemalan immigrants, Tobar currently lives in his native Los Angeles with his wife and three children.
