Sharanpal Ruprai

Sharanpal Ruprai (Calgary, AB, Canada) has earned a PhD from York University in Toronto, an MA in English from the University of Calgary, and a Bachelor of Education and BA from the University of Winnipeg. Her poetry has been published in two anthologies, Exposed and Red Silk. She created and produced (Narrow Field of Vision): Experimental Film Narrative, which was showcased at the Spinning Wheel Film Festival, held at the Royal Ontario Musuem in 2009.

At Wordfest, Ruprai presents her debut poetry collection, Seva, a poetic journey into the life of a Sikh girl; the narrative, through unique perspectives about culture, gender and ritual, enters a world that is usually inaccessible.
