Bold writers from Brooklyn present new novels that imagine what the world would be like after an earth-shattering event and how the human race would survive it (or not). Hosted by Andrew Guilbert.
In Station Eleven by Emily St. John Mandel, one snowy night a famous Hollywood actor slumps over and dies onstage during a production of King Lear. Hours later, civilization and the world as we know it begins to collapse.
In Shovel Ready, Adam Sternbergh imagines a futuristic scenario in which a terrorist attack transforms a once polished and touristy New York City into a dystopian wasteland depicted as crime-ridden, derelict and not somewhere you’d take the children for a vacation.
