Authors present new books that test the limits of reason itself through pleasingly terrifying tales of ghostly apparitions, haunted houses and spine-chilling encounters.
The Broken Hours by Jacqueline Baker opens with the arrival of Arthur Crandle, hired to assist horror writer H.P. Lovecraft who lives in a creaky old house, is deathly ill and on the edge of a nervous breakdown. Crandle is soon pulled deep into the strange world of H.P. Lovecraft as he unravels the dark secret at its heart.
In The Night Gardener, Auxier’s narrative is set in the Victorian Age, the great age of Gothic thrillers, in which an English manor house and its servants are not what they seem. Two abandoned Irish siblings who join the staff, still in their adolescence, are soon confronted with an ancient curse which threatens their lives.
