In Sternbergh’s hard-boiled dystopian thriller, Spademan talks like Marlowe, handles a blade like Dexter, roams the streets like Reacher, and has a style all his own.
Featuring: Adam Sternbergh
Taking queues from the notorious hit song from the legendary Rolling Stones, this event examines the phenomenon of the “psycho-killer” in popular culture and why sociopaths or psychopaths are depicted in TV shows, movies and books as thoughtful and “loveable” characters. Hosted by Jeet Heer, a Toronto based journalist who focuses on arts and culture.
In Shovel Ready, Adam Sternbergh’s propulsive and wholly original debut, we meet Spademan, a one-of-a-kind antihero in a futuristic New Work depicted as a crime-ridden, derelict wasteland. A former garbageman and devoted husband, Spademan’s now alone, working as a hit man.
