With birthday cake in hand, Wordfest and the Writer’s Guild of Alberta pay tribute to Rudy Wiebe, Alberta’s foremost writer of his generation. Wiebe reads from his new book Come Back and discusses the writing life with Aritha van Herk—accomplished writer, critic, professor and former student of Wiebe.
In Come Back by Rudy Wiebe, a retired professor is mourning the sudden death of his loving wife and struggling to understand the meaning behind an unmistakable sighting of his beloved oldest son believed to have killed himself 25 years ago.
Portrayed with a stunning immediacy, Come Back draws us into a powerful emotional and spiritual journey.
