Nita Prose kicked off Wordfest’s 2022 season online, just as her debut novel The Maid was set to conquer bestseller lists in Canada, the U.S., and Europe. Turns out everyone is besotted with Molly Gray, the neurodivergent hotel maid at the Regency Grand, who will be played by Florence Pugh on the big screen. States a glowing New York Time review: “The reader comes to understand Molly’s worldview, and to sympathize with her longing to be accepted – a quest that gives The Maid real emotional heft.” Prose, who is just as delightfully quirky as her heroine, joins us to share her expertise with locked-room mysteries, mega international debut success, working with editors and, yes, cleaning tips – even though her own home is only moderately tidy.
This one-hour conversation includes an audience Q&A and book signing.
