From the  moment we finished Lost in the Valley of Death, all we wanted to do was talk to author Harley Rustad: about Justin Alexander Shetler, about spirituality, about survivalism, about Instagram influencers, about India syndrome…. We wanted to know everything about how Rustad was able to interview everyone who seemingly ever knew Shetler, retracing the last weeks before his disappearance, and then craft a narrative that reveals so much about a mystery that remains unsolved. We wanted to know how to craft next-level longform journalism.

In short, we wanted an “AHA!” – Ask Harley Anything – opportunity. Well, this is it, an hour of nothing-held-back interaction with the features editor of The Walrus, a fellow of the Royal Geographical Society, and a contributor to Outside and the Guardian.
