New Yorker cartoonist, graphic novelist, and Instagram oracle Liana Fink makes powerful pictures. With her seemingly simple wobbly line Finck investigates the big and the small questions of being alive in hilarious, heartbreaking and mind-expanding ways. This highly visual afternoon promises a window into the profound (God, the nature of the universe, existential choices) the urban (dogs, cafe etiquette, ignoring emails), the political (feminism, racism, a world on fire) and the personal (love, motherhood, friendship, family). And you’ll hear right from the author/artist herself about how she created her latest book, Let There Be Light, a fearless philosophical reimagining of the story of Genesis with God as a woman, Abraham as a New Yorker, and an apple that, when bitten into, unleashes not all wisdom but very modern insecurities. ("Yes," says Finck's devil. "It really does make you look fat.")

This 75-minute exploration, hosted by Teresa Wong, includes audience Q&A and book signing.
