Calling all urban affairs geeks! We want to create an open book hub, a respectful book hub, a vibrant book hub for discussion with the world’s top thinkers. No one fits that heady bill better than Leslie Kern, whose new book Gentrification is Inevitable and Other Lies knocks down the myths and exposes the forces behind the most urgent housing crisis of our time. Kern will share resistance strategies from around the world, calling for everyday actions that empower everyone, from displaced peoples to long-time settlers. Learn how to mobilize, demand reparations, and rewrite the story of housing from the ground up.

This 75-minute conversation is all about your questions and insights, and includes book signing. It will be hosted by Druh Farrell, who previously interviewed Leslie Kern about Feminist City, one of the 21 books about city building recommended by the former city councillor as part of Wordfest’s Community Book List initiative

This event is part of Wordfest’s Imaginairium festival, Sept. 29 – Oct. 6, 2022. Connect with 60+ of the world’s most generous writers, thinkers, activators and inspirers, gathered just for you in Calgary, Canada. For more info: wordfest.com
