Shelagh Rogers
A veteran broadcast-journalist – which really means she isn’t young – Shelagh Rogers is the host and a producer of The Next Chapter on CBC Radio, now in its 15th season. In 2011, she was named an Honorary Witness for the Truth and Reconciliation Commission, a life-changing honour. She co-edited the Speaking My Truth series on truth, healing and reconciliation published by the Aboriginal Healing Foundation. She has received the Achievement in the Aboriginal Community Award from Native Counselling Services of Alberta. She holds honorary doctorates from eight universities and is the inaugural winner of the Margaret Trudeau Award for Mental Health Advocacy. Rogers is Chancellor Emerita of the University of Victoria, and a member of the Métis Nation of Greater Victoria. She is honoured to be back at Wordfest and speaking with David A. Robertson about The Theory of Crows.
