Books have been my security blanket since I could read my first word, and I have always surrounded myself with books in almost every room of my home. Having been born in England, grown up in Winnipeg, then moved to Edmonton, and now Calgary, I have lugged boxes of books across continents, countries, and cities.
My love of story spilled into my professional life working with museums and art galleries throughout my career before becoming a consultant; supporting non-profit and public institutions in developing and deepening their own story through strategy in my work at Hatlie Group.
As I head into summer holidays, I chose 12 books that relate to travel in some way. Travel is another important part of my life and the books on this list will transport you as each story provides a different way to look at the idea of journey: from life altering voyages, to chasing love across continents and time, to understanding oneself better because of experiences in new places.
