SOLD OUT! Thank you, Calgary! (Click here to join the waitlist, and please encourage your friends and family to sign up for our insider emails to make sure they're the first to hear about even more stellar authors coming to Calgary this year.)

Carley Fortune is FINALLY going to be on stage in Calgary! The breakout bestselling author of Meet Me at The Lake is doing a 4PM afternoon extravaganza on Sunday, June 23 at Central Library. Your ticket includes an exclusive, in-depth conversation, hosted by Wordfest's Creative Ringleader Shelley Youngblut, as well as an audience Q & A and book signing.

Doors open at 3PM. Go have an indulgent late lunch in the East Village, then come to the theatre for libations from Dandy Brewing Company and the Slow Burn Books pop-up store. And there will be a special cool treat to go with this (very) hot book and writer, courtesy of our friends at Village Ice Cream.

Signing Guidelines: Carley is happy to personalize one book per person (you choose which Fortune title), and will sign up to two additional books. (No exceptions.) Slow Burn Books has books for sale on site and you are welcome to bring pre-purchased copies (your steady support put all three of Carley’s books on the Canadian bestseller list this week).

Photo Guidelines: Candids are great (a Wordfester will take it for you with your phone) but no posed pictures. Wordfest also hired a professional photographer to capture the entire experience and will send you a link to download the photos on Friday, June. 28.

Audience Questions: To make sure we save lots of time for book signing, we’d love to have you send any questions you’d like host Shelley Youngblut to ask her via this link by 5PM on Thursday, June 20. (No spoilers please!)

About This Summer Will Be Different

“A deep and shimmering story of friendship, sex, and – most of all – love. From page one, Lucy and Felix reached right in and grabbed my heart and they haven’t let go. Be prepared to cry, swoon, ache, and cheer. Stunning." -Jennifer Niven, #1 New York Times bestselling author of All the Bright Places

Lucy is the tourist vacationing at a beach house on Prince Edward Island. Felix is the local who shows her a very good time. The only problem: Lucy doesn’t know he’s her best friend’s younger brother. Lucy and Felix’s chemistry is unreal, but the list of reasons why they need to stay away from each other is long, and they vow to never repeat that electric night again.

It’s easier said than done.

Each year, Lucy escapes to PEI for a big breath of coastal air, fresh oysters and crisp vinho verde with her best friend, Bridget. Every visit begins with a long walk on the beach, beneath soaring red cliffs and a golden sun. And every visit, Lucy promises herself she won’t wind up in Felix’s bed. Again.

If Lucy can’t help being drawn to Felix, at least she’s always kept her heart out of it.

When Bridget suddenly flees Toronto a week before her wedding, Lucy drops everything to follow her to the island. Her mission is to help Bridget through her crisis and resist the one man she’s never been able to. But Felix’s sparkling eyes and flirty quips have been replaced with something new, and Lucy’s beginning to wonder just how safe her heart truly is.
