An Evening with Liana Finck & Alice Winn

THURSDAY, OCT 17 @ 7:30PM $25
Memorial Park Library, Festival Hub, 2nd Floor
1221 2 St SW

This will be the first time these two international phenoms have been paired in conversation. And it could only happen at the Imagainairium, where we delight in bringing out the best in the world’s most exhilarating authors. Liana Finck dazzled us with her quiet, quirky brilliance when she appeared at the 2022 festival with Let There Be Light: The Story of Her Creation, winner of the 2022 National Jewish Book Award for Visual Arts. British breakout novelist and screenwriter Alice Winn won the Waterstones Debut Fiction Prize and Novel of the Year in 2023.

It was Winn who sparked the idea for this conversation, raving about the New Yorker cartoonist in a Guardian interview: “She had a baby not long before I did. Her cartoons cheered me up, especially because I found them on Instagram, buried among sponsored posts about how my child would grow up to be a serial killer if she didn’t get enough tummy time. Her new book How to Baby: A No-Advice-Given Guide to Motherhood promises to be a mixture of funny essays, lists (“Nesting. The Comprehensive List of What to Buy and Why Getting Things Used Is Dangerous and Unamerican”), and observations about motherhood.”
