Wakefield Brewster was raised in Toronto by parents from Barbados and has been living in Calgary since 2006. A popular and prolific performance poet, he is a 3-Time Calgary Poetry Slam Champion/Team Captain. Other hats Brewster wears include classical pianist and percussionist, registered massage therapist, youth mentor, and mental health advocate. Brewster’s poems have been published in several anthologies, including The Calgary Project, and The Black Prairie Archives: An Anthology. He is currently Calgary Poet Laureate, 2022-2024.
