Two of the most successful Canadian magazine-makers reunite to discuss an addictive, behind-the-scenes, globe-trotting narrative of moral ambiguity, law, public policy, and big tobacco. As Mad Men did for the alcohol-fueled, oversexed corrupt world of New York advertising, Joshua Knelman’s Firebrand does for the even more despised world of big tobacco. Given all the National Magazine Awards Knelman (one of The Walrus's founding editors) has under his belt, this hour is also a great chance to learn the ropes of reporting and crafting longform, non-fiction narratives.
This hour-long deep dive is hosted by Jason Logan, The Walrus’s founding art director and Wordfest’s current Creative Director. Includes an audience Q&A and book signing.
This event is part of Wordfest’s Imaginairium festival, Sept. 29 – Oct. 6, 2022. Connect with 60+ of the world’s most generous writers, thinkers, activators and inspirers, gathered just for you in Calgary, Canada. For more info: wordfest.com
