Wordfest’s first installment in the White Noise Talks series makes its debut at the Festival with a carefully balanced gathering of writers, artists and thinkers prepared to roll up their sleeves and “overshare” with wit and style on topics ranging from Internet privacy to post-millenial angst. Hosted by Matt Knapik.
Michael Cho is a cartoonist, writer and illustrator who designed the book jacket of the Don Delillo cover for Penguin Classics (see featured image on this page). At Wordfest he presents Shoplifter and Back Alleys and Urban Landscapes.
Technocreep by Thomas Keenan is the definitive dissection of privacy-eroding and life-invading technologies, coming at you from governments, corporations, and the person next door.
New Tab by Guillaume Morissette spans a year in the life of a twenty-six year old videogame designer as he attempts to reset his life, in the process chronicling with humour disillusion, boredom, self-destruction, Facebook chats, Concordia University, bilingualism, good parties, bad parties, a backyard cinema, social anxiety and running a possibly illegal DIY venue.
Downverse by Calgary artist Nikki Reimer soothes the oversaturated reader. A natural translator, Reimer writes for anyone who has felt overwhelmed by the phrase “never read the comments.”
