Events for Book Lovers at SPUR Calgary, April 23-26
SPUR Calgary, April 23-26
Spur is a national festival of politics, art and ideas, coming to Calgary April 23–26, 2015. It's a chance to join today’s most provocative thinkers and scholars, artists and activists, journalists and entrepreneurs—from across the country and beyond—to share ideas worth spurring into action.
Spur has a wonderful series of events planned for the city, including a couple of particular interest to book lovers.
Book Bag with Tessa McWatt
Saturday, April 25 | 10am
On the surface the characters in Higher Ed, Tessa McWatt’s latest novel, have little in common. Each from a different place, each on a different path and yet, through McWatt’s raw and inviting prose, she reveals how they, and we, are essentially the same. Join McWatt and Spur festival director Helen Walsh for a continental breakfast as they read and discuss from McWatt’s newest novel.
Book Bag with Ian Weir
Sunday, April 26 | 9:30am
Ian Weir reads from and discusses his novel Will Starling. Set in London 1816, and steeped in scientific lore, Will Starling is a tale of love and redemption, death and resurrection. Join Weir and moderator Eric Volmers for a continental breakfast, a reading and discussion.
Check out the full schedule for Calgary on their website. As a special offer to Wordfest patrons, Spur is happy to offer $5 off regular price tickets. Use promo code, together15, at check-out.
