Joey Comeau named 2017 Anne Green Award Recipient

(Calgary, AB — Sunday, October 15) At the “Family Ties” event at the Glenbow Museum Theatre this weekend as part of the 22nd annual Festival, Wordfest announced Joey Comeau as the 2017 Anne Green Award recipient. The annual award is given to an artist whose work explores and challenges the traditional form of story and narrative.

Hosted by Lee Kvern, The Family Ties event featured a quartet of uncompromising and innovative takes on the family novel from authors Camille Bordas, David Chariandy, Joey Comeau and Gina Sorrell. Each of their books tackled unique filial challenges, while touching on issues so many of us are facing right now. This event put a spotlight on four North American writers at the top of their form.

Joey Comeau is the author of four novels and the webcomic A Softer World. His work has been nominated for the ReLit and Shirley Jackson awards, has appeared in the Best American Non-Required Reading and The Guardian, has been profiled in Rolling Stone, and has recently been translated into French, Spanish, Turkish, and German. He lives in Halifax. Find out more about the author and his books on wordfest.com
