Journalist Rachel Giese’s award-winning writing has appeared in The Walrus, The Globe and Mail, Today’s Parent, The Hairpin, Real Life and New Yorker.com. An editor at large at Chatelaine and a regular contributor to CBC radio, Giese comes to the festival with her first book Boys, What It Means to Become a Man, in which she examines the myths of masculinity and the challenges facing boys today. (Boys actually grew out of a story Giese wrote for The Walrus about the Calgary Sexual Health Centre’s WiseGuyz program, which is featured in Chapter 7.)
