Meags Fitzgerald
Meags Fitzgerald (QC, Canada) is an interdisciplinary artist and storyteller whose talents include illustrating, designing, writing and performing. She holds a Bachelor’s of Fine Arts in drawing and a post-degree certificate in design. At Wordfest, Fitzgerald presents her debut graphic novel, Photobooth: A Biography, in which the author has chronicled the photobooth’s history and the events which gave rise to the desperate need to save them. The graphic novel is constructed as seen through the eyes of photobooth technicians, owners, collectors, artists and fanatics, and acts as a travel journal of Fitzgerald’s time researching the machines. A long-time photobooth lover, Fitzgerald struggles with her own relationship to these photo-taking machines, while looking forward to the future.
