Karyn L. Freedman

One Hour in ParisKaryn L. Freedman (ON, Canada) is a philosopher, author and professor. Born in Winnipeg, Freedman moved to New York to study fashion merchandising after graduating high school. There, she discovered her love for philosophy, and moved back to Winnipeg to pursue a BA and MA in the subject. In Toronto, Freedman received a PhD, and obtained a teaching position in the department of philosophy at the University of Guelph. At Wordfest, the author presents One Hour in Paris: A True Story of Rape and Recovery, an exploration of gender inequality, violence against women, and the nature of trauma and recovery, drawn from her own tragic personal experience.
