Calgary Public Library (Main Branch) – John Dutton Theatre, 616 Macleod Trail SE, 10am – 11:15am; Book signing and autograph until 11:45am Join Wordfest Youth for an engaging and relevant discussion of Aboriginal traditions in literature with Karen Bass and Aaron Paquette. Prominent First Nations author, Aaron Paquette, presents his novel, Lightfinder, which is an engaging fantasy novel rooted in Cree traditions. Karen Bass also explores a Cree legend in her suspense mystery novel, The Hill. Both Paquette and Bass’ novels describe stories that will resonate with students grade six and up. This presentation will not only develop students English Language Arts skills, but will encourage students to make connections from their Social Studies curriculum to the reading material as well.
