Breaking: New Wordfest Youth Author added to 2015 Lineup
Wordfest is delighted to announce that David Alexander Roberson will join the Wordfest Youth lineup for the 20th anniversary Festival, October 13-18.
David Robertson, an award-winning author and graphic novelist hailing from Winnipeg, Manitoba, writes about the history of Aboriginal Canadians through the medium of the graphic novel—an innovative format that engages readers of all ages.
Robertson presents his latest novel Betty: The Helen Betty Osborne Story (released in May 2015). He shares the stage with Richard Van Camp on October Friday, October 16, 2015, 10-11:45am, at Calgary Public Library, John Dutton Theatre. He will also be available for in-school visits for grade 4-6, 7-9, and 10-12 school students.
Communicating the history of Aboriginal people in this country is challenging. Dave Robertson’s graphic novels take advantage of an important means of communicating that history to Canada’s youth, especially Aboriginal youth, who have gravitated to this genre—Justice Murray Sinclair, Chair, Truth and Reconciliation
