2014 GG Podcast Interview with Michael Crummey

In this episode of the 2014 GG Podcast, CJSW’s Kai Sinclair speaks with 2014 GG finalist Michael Crummey about his most recent novel, Sweetland.

In Sweetland, a remote island in Newfoundland faces the prospect of resettlement, and each is offered a generous compensation package to leave. But the money is offered with a proviso: everyone has to go; the government won’t be responsible for one crazy coot who chooses to stay behind.

Michael Crummey has won many accolades for his work, and has been short-listed for the Governor General’s Literary Award for fiction. Crummey has served as a writer-in-residence and has taught creative writing at many institutions across Canada.

Since 2011, Wordfest and CJSW 90.9FM have partnered each year to produce The GG Podcast to commemorate the Governor General’s Literary Awards.
