James Raffan

CirclingTheMidnightSunJames Raffan (ON, Canada) is a writer, speaker, geographer and the current executive director of the Canadian Canoe Museum in Peterborough, Ontario. He is the author of numerous books, including the bestselling Emperor of the North, and has written for a variety of media outlets, including print, radio and television. He is past chair of the Arctic Institute of North America, as well as fellow and past governor of the Royal Canadian Geographical Society, service for which he was awarded the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee Medal in 2012, among other accolades. The author’s memoir, titled Circling the Midnight Sun: Culture and Change in the Invisible Arctic, is about the three years Raffan spent in the Arctic Circle.
