Michele Genest

Michele Genest (YT, Canada) is the Whitehorse-based author of The Boreal Gourmet. Genest is also a cooking columnist for The Boreal Chef, in Yukon, North of Ordinary Magazine. Inspired by her surroundings, Genest aims to find new ways to cook with northern ingredients, whether they live and grow wild in the boreal forest, its lakes and rivers, or are cultivated in northern gardens. She often wanders out of the north to explore ingredients and techniques from other cuisines, bringing them back to the Yukon to add to her breadth of culinary knowledge. At Wordfest, Genest presents her latest cookbook, The Boreal Feast.
