A brilliant, unnerving, disturbed read. I am pressing it into the hands of everyone I can.”  — Claudia Dey

FESTIVAL BOOK

I Become a Delight to My Enemies

In an uncanny Town – a town like any other, a town like no other – women tell their stories of brutality. They tell stories of the common degradation they survive, of the relentless misogyny they endure, and of the Town’s men, who leave violence and pain in their wake. And they tell stories of the Chancellor, whose horrors shape them and whose power cages them, and of what happens inside his hideous Farmhouse.

Dark, cutting, and coursed through with bright flashes of humour, crystalline imagery, and razor-sharp detail, I Become a Delight to My Enemies is a gut-wrenchingly powerful, breathtakingly beautiful meditation on the violence and shame inflicted on the female body and psyche.
