Andrew Stobo Sniderman & Douglas Sanderson Hosted by Phil Fontaine

Listen to “Douglas Sanderson & Andrew Stobo Sniderman in Conversation with Phil Fontaine” on Spreaker.

Thanks for Listening!

This April, Wordfest was honoured to showcase Douglas Sanderson and Andrew Stobo Sniderman in a conversation about where we’ve been, where we are and where we might be going. And who better than Phil Fontaine, three-term national chief of the Assembly of First Nations to host the evening? We were so fortunate to hear from such generous, accomplished thinkers on Wordfest’s stage at Memorial Park Library in Calgary (Mohkinstsis). As a gift to ticket holders and 2023 pass holders, we’re sharing the audio from this week’s event for a limited time (please feel free to share with your friends, colleagues and families).

Before the evening event, Andrew Stobo Sniderman spent the afternoon at Nelson Mandela High School in Calgary with 300 students to talk about Truth and Reconciliation. It was so fitting as Stobo (a Rhodes Scholar who studied law with Douglas Sanderson) had met Nelson Mandela when he was 15. Thanks to Wordfest’s amazing donors, we were able to donate many class sets of Valley of the Birdtail to the students.

Help enable Wordfest to connect teens with even more life-changing authors in 2023! Until August 31, 2022, Shaw Birdies for Kids presented by AltaLink will match your gift to Wordfest by up to 50% if you donate at this link.
