Our Condolences to Friends and Family of Michael Green
(Calgary, AB — Wednesday, February 11, 2015) Wordfest joins the Rabbits, Calgarians and everyone who knew Michael Green in mourning his tragic passing. He was a true inspiration and friend; his memory will be honoured and his spirit will not be forgotten.
Michael Green was a leader in Calgary's art community. He co-founded and served as the co-artistic director of One Yellow Rabbit Theatre, established in 1982, and was also involved in the city's High Performance Rodeo. He was a recipient of the Lieutenant Governor of Alberta Arts Award, the Alberta Centennial Medal in 2006, and a Queen's Diamond Jubilee Medal in 2012.
In an interview Wednesday morning, Mr. Green was described by Theatre Calgary artistic director Dennis Garnhum as “gregarious, mischievous, he always had a twinkle in his eye, profoundly warm human being.” — Globe and Mail
One Yellow Rabbit is hosting a public celebration of Green's life from 1-4 pm on Wednesday, February 11, 2015, at the Big Secret Theatre on the second floor of Arts Commons (formerly the EPCOR Centre for the Performing Arts).
