Wordfest Youth Questions with Dr. Ibram X Kendi
On April 14, 2026, National Book Award winner Ibram X. Kendi joined 600 Calgary students (Grades 8–12) for an unforgettable afternoon of real talk and big questions. From unpacking racism disguised as “jokes” to advice on holding each other, adults, and institutions accountable, students stepped up to the mic and didn’t hold back.

Our innovative outreach activities fuel teen literacy in Grades 5 to 12 to spark the next generation of engaged Calgarians and avid readers.
