Rita Sirignano is a writer, painter, and the Program Associate at Wordfest. Her writing has been published across Canada, including The National Post, The Calgary Herald, Ottawa Magazine, Avenue, and Swerve, and anthologized in Fact and Arguments: Selected Essays from The Globe and Mail. Sirignano has received two AMPA awards for service-feature writing and was the recipient of the Brenda Strathern Writing Prize in 2009. In a previous life she worked at MoMA PS1 (when it was just PS1 and there was often no heat and she had to type wearing mittens) and a number of other art organizations and galleries in New York. A graduate of The Rhode Island School of Design, her paintings are in the collection of The Alberta Foundation for the Arts and many private collections across North America.
