E. Jean Carroll

E. Jean Carroll is a journalist and the author of five books, including What Do We Need Men For? A Modest Proposal, and Hunter: The Strange and Savage Life of Hunter S. Thompson. Carroll’s Ask E. Jean column appeared in Elle magazine from 1993 through 2019, becoming one of the longest-running advice columns in American publishing. She has written for Rolling Stone, Outside, Vanity Fair, Esquire, New York, and The Atlantic. In 2024, Carroll was named one of TIME magazine’s 100 Most Influential People. She lives and throws the ball for her dogs at her cabin in the mountains in upstate New York.
