Anne Collins is an award-winning writer, editor and former book publisher who retired from a long career at Penguin Random House Canada in March 2026. Among the authors she’s edited and published are Jann Arden, Cat Bohannon, Julian Barnes, Diana Beresford-Kroeger, John Borrows, Ian Brown, Douglas Coupland, Roméo Dallaire, Cherie Dimaline, Don Gillmor, Michelle Good, Chris Hadfield, Jane Jacobs, Wayne Johnston, Robert Kolker, Elena Kostyuchenko, Amanda Leduc, Barry Lopez, Annabel Lyon, Linden MacIntyre, Robert Macfarlane, J.B. MacKinnon, Ami McKay, Tessa McWatt, Sean Michaels, Julian Brave NoiseCat, Carol Off, Loghan Paylor, Richard Powers, Eden Robinson, Shelley Saywell, Carol Shields, Patti Smith, Martha Wainwright, Alissa York and Ian Williams.

Before moving over to the world of book publishing, Anne spent twenty years as a magazine editor and writer whose reporting took her across Canada, and to South Africa and Central America. She is the also the author of two acclaimed books of non-fiction: the first, on the abortion issue, was called The Big Evasion; her second, In the Sleep Room: The Story of the CIA Brainwashing Experiments in Canada, won the Governor General’s Award for Non-fiction. In 2019, she was honoured to receive the Ivy Award for “extraordinary contribution to publishing in Canada.”
