Anne Collins is an award-winning writer, editor and former book publisher who retired from a long career at Penguin Random House Canada in March 2026. Before moving over to the world of book publishing, Anne spent twenty years as a magazine editor and writer whose reporting took her across Canada, and to South Africa and Central America. She is the also the author of two acclaimed books of non-fiction: the first, on the abortion issue, was called The Big Evasion; her second, In the Sleep Room: The Story of the CIA Brainwashing Experiments in Canada, won the Governor General’s Award for Non-fiction. In 2019, she was honoured to receive the Ivy Award for “extraordinary contribution to publishing in Canada.”
